University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center

Opened in 1941, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is home to one of the most respected and devoted cancer care facilities in the United States. The cancer center itself is located in Houston, TX in the central part of the city within the confines of the Texas Medical Center.

When developed in 1941, the MD Anderson Cancer Center was established as a member of The University of Texas System, a collection of nine different universities and six different health institutions. The MD Anderson Cancer Center was previously designated by the National Cancer Act as an original comprehensive cancer center. Today, it remains as one of 40 institutions designated by the National Cancer Institute.
