Dong Moon Shin, FACP is an excellent specialist in the field of mesothelioma. His duties also include serving as a Professor of medicine, Otolaryngology, Pharmacology and Oncology at Emory’s School of Medicine.

After finishing his internship and residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, he completed a fellowship within Medical Oncology and Hematology from the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. Dr. Shin is currently certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Oncology and Internal Medicine.

Joining Emory’s Winship Cancer Institute in 2003, Dr. Shin previously worked at the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute. Before joining the Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, Dr. Shin served as an associate professor of medicine at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston where he completed his fellowship.

Dr. Shin has high interests in the field of mesothelioma and other forms of cancer. This includes the prevention and treatment of the mesothelioma, as well as treatment and prevention of neck, head and lung cancer. With lab research focused on digestive biology and head, neck and lung cancer, Dr. Shin has worked for years to develop new treatment and prevention techniques.

For the past 20 years, Dr. Shin has also focused research in establishing models for carcinogenesis in both preclinical and clinical settings for lung, neck and head cancer. He has also helped to develop different biomarkers for both animal and human carcinogenesis in the same areas.

Throughout his career, Dr. Shin has been published in hundreds of peer reviewed journals such as the Journal of the National Cancer Institute and The New England Journal of Medicine, among others. Also, his scientific articles have been cited by numerous studies and papers. Not only has his work been published for years, but Dr. Shin has also received multiple awards as a physician. He is currently a member of prestigious organizations such as the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Head and Neck Surgery, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology, among others.
